Which image below does your staining look more like

Surface level hard water staining on shower glass wit raised mineral deposits.

Surface staining

May feel Slightly bumpy or raised when you run your finger over it. When looking through the glass, small print behind it can be easily read.

Etched glass

Looks flat and dull rather than raised. Feels smooth to the touch. If you run firmly down the glass it may be ‘squeaky’. Example of etched glass (squeaky surface)

Severe hard water staining on shower glass (etched glass example)

Glass Clarity Test

Hold a book or any printed text on the opposite side of the shower glass from where you are standing and look at it through the glass. If the text appears sharp and clear, the staining is likely sitting on the surface. If the text looks slightly blurred/distorted, this is often a sign the glass surface has been etched.

Assessment & Test Patch

Photos and written information help provide a general indication of the condition of your glass and allow an estimated price range to be discussed. However, there are multiple variables that cannot be accurately determined from images alone, or even an in-person visual inspection by an expert. For this reason, the only way to determine the true expected outcome is by carrying out a physical assessment and test patch on the glass itself.

A test patch provides a definitive answer about the true condition of your glass and confirms whether it can be restored — and to what level of clarity. By restoring a small, visible section of the most affected area of the glass so you can clearly see what result is realistically achievable before committing to a full restoration. This must be done on a section where the staining is representative and visible in the lighting conditions of your bathroom, rather than in an inconspicuous corner, so the result accurately reflects what can be achieved across the rest of the glass.

The assessment fee is $80 incl. GST, which covers *travel and materials . If you choose to proceed with the restoration within 21 days, this fee is waived and you only pay for the restoration itself.

IMPORTANT - If you decide not to proceed, the tested area may initially appear clearer than the surrounding glass, but over time it will naturally blend back in with the rest of the panel.

*Additional travel charges may apply for locations outside our standard service area

** Busy client option

If you prefer not to provide photos or details, Glass Genius can attend and carry out a standalone assessment for $80 incl. GST. If you choose to proceed with the restoration within 21 days, this fee is waived and you only pay for the restoration itself. Restoration cannot be completed on the same visit because required time on site must first be confirmed.
